Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaker. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency, a site that features videos and comments on the representations of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and a prestigious feminist for more than a decade. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which explores the representations of females in the popular media narratives. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes of women as they appear in popular media. Additionally she aims to create awareness about online harassment targeted towards women as well as the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Political and Social Thinking in the field of social and political thought from York University, is a popular public speakers. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian. an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues concerning gender and feminism for a lengthy period of. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series on the gender roles in games but was the target of an online harassment campaign. It was not enough to halt her.
